Discharge Advice

It is not always possible to assess an person's response to treatment or predict deterioration (becoming more unwell).

It is important that you seek urgent medical attention at Middlemore Hospital or call 111 if you:

Feel very unwell - if things are getting worse or you are worried.

Have high fevers, shortness of breath, severe tummy or back pain, or chest pains

It is important to note that all medications can have side effects or cause allergic reactions. If you feel that your medications are causing side effects please STOP your medication and see a doctor immediately.

If you feel unwell, or that your symptoms are worsening, or your medication is not working, please seek medical advice immediately.

If you or your family member become severely unwell: please call 111 for an ambulance, or go to Middlemore Hospital.

Mental Health:

If you are on medications to treat depression, anxiety or mental illness, please note that changing doses, stopping and starting these medications can cause changes in your mood.

If you are on medications for your mental health or sleeping pills do not consume alcohol or illicit drugs.
