From humble beginnings in 1989, Bakerfield Medical and Urgent Care has grown along with our South Auckland community to become a well established primary care service.

Ali has been working as a General Practitioner since 1998 in different Suburbs in Auckland until he settled in South Auckland in 2001 at MCAM (2011) Ltd t/a Bakerfield Medical & Urgent Care. Ali is fluent in Arabic and English.
John is a current GP Fellow who has gained tremendous experience in different surgical and medical specialties in Auckland.
He completed his Medical degree (MBChB) in 2016 at The University of Auckland, New Zealand. Prior to this, he also completed a Bachelor of Science degree specialising in Biomedical Science in 2012 at the same University.
John decided to pursue GP training after years of hospital clinical rotations. He enjoys all aspects of General Practice with special interest to acute care and other medical aspects.
John was born in the Philippines. He is now living in New Zealand permanently and has been enjoying it ever since. Outside medicine, John enjoys time with family, travelling, running, and an interest in technological advancements.
Hannah is originally from China and obtained her Master’s Degree in Clinical Medicine in China in 2005.
She worked in the respiratory department in China before moving to New Zealand 11 years ago. She obtained her Bachelor of Midwifery and worked as a midwife for several years here in Aotearoa. This experience broadened her understanding of women's health and pregnancy care. She obtained registration as a doctor in New Zealand in 2021 and worked in Waikato DHB hospital for 2 years.
Hannah enjoys working as a General Practitioner and considers it a privilege to be in a profession where she can make a difference in people’s lives every day. Her goal is to offer holistic, patient-centered care and treatment.
Hannah's special interests are contraception, menopause and peri-menopause support, HRT options, Jadelle/Mirena insertions/removals. You can book an appointment with Hannah for menopause support, alongside Tina (Wellness Coach) for a comprehensive assessment and plan.
Hannah is fluent in both English and Mandarin. Outside medicine, she is interested in jogging, traveling and spending time with her family.
NZ born, studied at AUT Akld- has a Bachelor of Health Science in Nursing, completed post graduate diploma in Biological science and diabetes specialty nursing.
Rebecca has been nursing since 2002 with a background in general medical/cardiology and emergency nursing. She has been working in primary care with chronic care patients since 2009 and has an interest in healthy eating and exercise. Since 2009 Rebecca has been running self- management groups as a Master trainer in the chronic disease self- management programme and developed her own funded weight management course. Rebecca qualified as a Diabetes nurse specialist in 2016, and also has an interest in respiratory nursing and is qualified to do diagnostic spirometry for patients
Interests include netball, gym and travelling with her family.
Dr Glenn has been part of the Bakerfield team since April 2024, bringing with him over 40 years of experience in general practice. He graduated from Auckland Medical School in 1982 and has dedicated his career to serving patients in New Zealand as a General Practitioner.
Dr Glenn finds great fulfillment in his work, believing it to be a privilege to be part of a profession where he can make a meaningful difference in people's lives every day.
He is available at Bakerfield on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 9am to 4.20pm.
Marcus is originally from Malaysia and is a Fellow of the Royal New Zealand College of Urgent Care. He has worked for our clinic for many years and is a familiar face in our walk-in Urgent Care. Marcus is fluent in both English and Malay, and is passionate about emergency medicine, treatment and injury management.
Hella originally comes from the Netherlands but is almost a Kiwi, having lived in New Zealand for over 30 years. She specializes in General Practice, Urgent Care, Industrial Health, and Mental Health. Hella is passionate about empowering people to take care of their own wellbeing and enjoys helping them function at their best, both at home and at work.
She has four adult children and likes to stay active through sports, as well as connecting with friends and family.
Dr Kevin Gabriel is a dedicated Urgent Care and General Practitioner with a strong interest in all aspects of acute and chronic primary care medicine. He is committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based care and is also the creator of the NZGP Web Directory (www.nzgp-webdirectory.co.nz). Dr Kevin is extremely skilled and experienced in family medicine and has worked for the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners, and now in Urgent Care.
Cliff graduated from Auckland University, obtaining an additional qualification in Obstetrics. He is a GP fellow with an interest in Preventative Health Care and Dermatology. Cliff is also a registered teaching Physician.
Cliff's non-medical interests include fitness, reading and time with his family.
Born in Colombo, Sri Lanka, Lalith Martyn graduated with his MBBS from the University of Colombo in 1984.
A thirst for adventure and a love of fishing and the All Blacks brought Lalith to New Zealand in 1988, where he worked in the public health system until 1994, when his interest in emergency medicine came to the fore and he worked in primary care.
He obtained a Diploma in Obstetrics and Genecology in 1995, a Diploma in Sports Medicine in 1996 and a Diploma in Emergency Medicine in 2001 from the University of Auckland.
Lalith is an Urgent Care Fellow and currently leads our Rehabilitation Clinic, so he can spend less time behind a desk and more time doing what he loves best: tending to patients.
Shatha is a GP originally from Iraq, and has worked many years in Middlemore, Auckland and North Shore Hospitals as an orthopedics / hands and plastics registrar
She decided to move to primary care and gained fellowship (FRNZCGP) in 2017.

Zafar was born and studied in Pakistan, then gained his PhD in Pediatrics in Japan.
He worked as Pediatrician in Pakistan before immigrating to New Zealand in 2008.
Zafar has a keen interest in primary care and is currently in the process of obtaining his GP Fellowship.
His other interests are travelling and exploring nature outdoors. He is fluent in English, Urdu, Punjabi, Hindi and can speak Japanese.
General Practitioner
Dr Tony obtained his medical degree in China and moved to New Zealand in 1990s. After working in general surgery in Auckland he moved to primary care in 2012 and has worked in variety of primary care areas. He enjoys the daily care of community and has built a wealth of experience from his clinical practice in different area of practice.
Dr Tony has a keen interest in minor surgery and holds regular appointments for minor surgery - including circumcision, vasectomy, cyst removal, and ingrown toenails.
In his spare time, he enjoys scenic photography, travelling and hiking. Dr Tony is fluent in English and Mandarin.
Odiy Oied is a qualified Podiatrist born in Iraq and educated in Australia, where he completed a Bachelor of Podiatry at the University of Newcastle. His clinical focus includes musculoskeletal biomechanics, diabetic and neurovascular foot care, and chronic disease management with individual rehabilitation.
His holistic approach to treatment, looking at how the foot, ankle, knee, and hip work together to support balance, mobility, and overall function. Through gait analysis, orthotic therapy, and tailored rehabilitation plans, and aim to reduce pain, prevent injury, and improve long-term performance.
Odiy is extremely skilled in biomechanical assessment and postural alignment plans.
Outside of work, Odiy enjoy fitness and strength training, travelling, and exploring different cultures and cuisines, which keeps him active and connected with people from a wide range of backgrounds.
Anthea comes to us with a wealth of acute experience around Auckland with St John. Her special interests are in acute primary care and she works in our urgent care service. Anthea is a key reason why our urgent care works efficiently and she works with doctors to help fast track children, ACC injuries and people needing referral on to our local hospitals.
Outside of work, you will find her hiking, cooking, and spending time with family.
Sarah is a graduate of the Auckland Medical School and has received extensive training across all areas of primary and urgent care medicine. She has a particular interest in skin conditions, minor surgical procedures, and women’s health, and is committed to providing comprehensive and patient-centered care.
In addition to her general practice work, Sarah has a growing interest in cosmetic medicine and is currently completing the New Zealand Society of Cosmetic Medicine Diploma to further develop her expertise in this field.
Sarah enjoys the diverse and rewarding nature of working at Bakerfield Medical & Urgent Care and is dedicated to delivering high-quality care to the community. She looks forward to welcoming and caring for patients.
