About Bakerfield

The practice consists of Two Partners, Practice Manager, Doctors, Nurses and Receptionist's. We see walk-in patients and also take appointments for those wishing to make an appointment with their doctor. We provide X-ray on site.

We are a Medical & Urgent Care Clinic with a Group of Health Professionals working to provide personal Care.

We believe that your health care is best delivered through a long-term trusting relationship with your General Practice. Your health, individuality and safety are our priority. We call this "patient centred medicine".

Dr Ali Numan

MBChB Iraq 1989, United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) 1997, FRNZCGP 2005 - Fellowship of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners, FRNZCUC 2014 - Fellowship of the Royal New Zealand College of Urgent Care Physicians (CUCP). Ali is also a registered teaching physician.

Ali has been working as a General Practitioner since 1998 in different Suburbs in Auckland until he settled in South Auckland in 2001 at MCAM (2011) Ltd t/a Bakerfield Medical & Urgent Care. His medical interests include a spectrum of General Practice work, Sports Medicine and Chronic Care Management.

His non-medical interests include playing football, fishing, jogging and travelling.

Ali is fluent in Arabic and English.

Dr Sahar Bahnam

Born in Iraq, Sahar obtained a Bachelor of Medicine from Mosul Medical School, before migrating to New Zealand with her family. Sahar completed her FRNZCGP 2019 - Fellowship of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners.

Sahar is interested in all aspects of family medical care, enjoy's working in a multicultural environment with patients of a varied age group. she has a special interest in the care of Women's Health and Mental Health.

Sahar is fluent in English and Arabic

Dr Belinda Luey

New Zealand born Belinda completed her medical training at the University of NSW, obtaining a Bachelor of Medicine with a special interest is Family Care and Women's Health. The opportunity to work in a general practice that also deals in urgent care medicine proved irresistible and so she joined Bakerfield Medical & Urgent Care Clinic in May 2012.

Belinda enjoys watching movies, reading books, music and the important time with her family.

Dr John Sison

John is a current GP Registrar who has gained tremendous experience in different surgical and medical specialties in Auckland.

He completed his Medical degree (MBChB) in 2016 at The University of Auckland, New Zealand. Prior to this, he also completed a Bachelor of Science degree specialising in Biomedical Science in 2012 at the same University.

John decided to pursue GP training after years of hospital clinical rotations. He enjoys all aspects of General Practice with special interest to acute care and other medical aspects.

John was born in the Philippines. He is now living in New Zealand permanently and has been enjoying it ever since. Outside medicine, John enjoys time with family, travelling, running, and an interest in technological advancements.

Dr Palm Kamolpanus

Palm is a Senior Registrar in Urgent Care with experience in a wide range of medical and surgical specialties. He has a passion for both emergency care and community-based care. His special interests are teaching and mindfulness in medicine.

Palm was born in Thailand, and completed his scholarship in Singapore in 2012 before moving to New Zealand to complete his medical degree at the University of Auckland in 2018. He is fluent in English and Thai. His non-medical interests are meditation, guitar, hiking and callisthenics.

Rebecca Shaw (Specialist Nurse)

NZ born, studied at AUT Akld- has a Bachelor of Health Science in Nursing, completed post graduate diploma in Biological science and diabetes specialty nursing.

Rebecca has been nursing since 2002 with a background in general medical/cardiology and emergency nursing. She has been working in primary care with chronic care patients since 2009 and has an interest in healthy eating and exercise. Since 2009 Rebecca has been running self- management groups as a Master trainer in the chronic disease self- management programme and developed her own funded weight management course. Rebecca qualified as a Diabetes nurse specialist in 2016, and also has an interest in respiratory nursing and is qualified to do diagnostic spirometry for patients

Interests include netball, gym and travelling with her family.

Dr Cliff Ah Kit

New Zealand born Cliff graduated from Auckland University, obtaining an additional qualification in Obstetrics, with an interest in Preventative Health Care and Dermatology. Fellowship of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners. Cliff is also a registered teaching Physician.

Cliff's non-medical interests include fitness, reading and time with his family.

Dr Lalith Martyn

Born in Colombo, Sri Lanka, Lalith Martyn graduated with his MBBS from the University of Colombo in 1984.

A thirst for adventure and a love of fishing and the All Blacks brought Lalith to New Zealand in 1988, where he worked in the public health system until 1994, when his interest in emergency medicine came to the fore and he joined the White Cross Accident and Medical Clinic in Otahuhu.

He was awarded the Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 1995; the Diploma in Sports Medicine in 1996 and the Diploma in Emergency Medicine in 2001 from the University of Auckland. He became a Fellow in Urgent Care Medicine (FRNZCUC) in 2001.

That same year he was appointed Medical Director of White Cross Otahuhu and after eight years in the role relinquished the post so he could spend less time behind a desk and more time doing what he loves best: tending to patients.

Dr Shatha Moukhtar

Dr. Shatha is a GP originally from Iraq, she worked many years in MMH, ACH, and NSH as an orthopaedics / hands and plastics registrar

Dr. Shatha decided to move to primary care and gained fellowship (FRNZCGP) in 2017

Dr Robin Park

Robin is an urgent care registrar with a wide range of experience in medical specialities before joining Bakerfield Medical and Urgent Care in March 2022.

Robin was born in South Korea and moved to New Zealand in 2003. He is fluent in English and Korean. He completed his medical degree at The University of Otago in 2017.

Dr Zafar Mirza

Born and studied in Pakistan. PhD in Paediatric from Japan.

I worked as Paediatrician in Pakistan and came to New Zealand in 2008. Passed New Zealand registration examination and worked in Waikato DHB hospital.

I am interested in GP training and would like to work in urgent care. My other interests are travelling and exploring nature outdoors.

I am fluent in English, Urdu, Punjabi, Hindi and can speak Japanese.

General Practitioner

I obtained my medical degree in China and moved to New Zealand more than 20 years ago. After working in general surgery in Auckland for a few years I choose to move to primary care in 2012.

I enjoy the daily care of the community with my experience built up in variety areas in New Zealand. I also have an interest of minor surgery with the skill gained during my surgical work and offer this extra service to the community.

I have great motivation of scenery photograph, travelling and hiking, which bring me a good balance of lifestyle.
