It pays to be prepared for your appointment - that way you'll get the most out of it. Make a list of what you want to get out of your appointment and show this to your doctor/clinician straight away. Our staff will help you get the most value from your appointment, but if you require more time or investigation - you may be asked to book a follow up consultation.
Always start by booking the right appointment.
New to our clinic? You'll need to book an extended consultation on your first visit - that way we can update your health information and address what you need done in the same visit. A new patient charge applies.
Make the most of our services - we have lots of them! Our FREE SERVICES include: Health Coach, Counsellor, Wellness Advisor. Look after yourself holistically and don't forget your wellbeing, as well as your physical health.
We welcome support people! Please feel free to bring yours along. If you don't have a support person, one of our friendly staff can be with you during your appointment.
Terms & Conditions
Appointment Information
All follow up that requires the time of our Doctors will incur a charge. Please do not assume that any service is free unless you have been specifically informed so. If you want to know more about our fees, please check our fees page, or email reception@bakerfield.co.nz
ACC only covers ACC accident and injury related issues as defined by ACC. Maternity care only covers maternity-related issues as defined by Te Whatu Ora criteria. If you ask your doctor to assess any non-ACC issues or non-maternity issues (ie routine prescriptions, UTI, cold/flu symptoms), usual charges will apply. If you have any questions about charges, please speak to our receptionists, or email reception@bakerfield.co.nz
If you require any follow up prescriptions for positive results, there will be a prescription charge.
If you cannot make your booked appointment, please let us know within 2 hours of your appointment to avoid being charged by emailing us on reception@bakerfield.co.nz. Check out our contact page for more information.
If you are late for your appointment, we will try to accommodate you, but it is the doctor’s sole discretion at the time whether this is possible. If you miss your appointment, we can see you in our Urgent Care, but usual wait times and charges will apply. Alternatively, you can book another GP appointment. Please plan you trip to ensure you arrive 5-10 minutes early to allow for traffic/parking.
If you need an interpreter, please let us know when booking your appointment or by emailing us on reception@bakerfield.co.nz Our staff are required to ensure that patients have informed consent for any surgery, treatment or medication - if we cannot ascertain that you or your whanau member understand the benefits or risks, you may need to book another appointment.
Our doctors endeavor to stay on time, however, please note that as with all health clinics, unforeseen medical emergencies/unwell patients requiring urgent treatment can occur which may delay a doctor seeing or calling you. We do keep this to an absolute minimum as we recognise that your time is precious.
Phone Consultations
If you have booked a phone/virtual consult, your doctor will attempt to contact you a maximum of 3 times. If you do not pick up your phone, you will be charged a full consult fee. Please ensure that you have provided us with the correct contact details when you are making your appointment.
Before considering a virtual consultation, please ensure that your microphone and camera is enabled in your default web browser. You can check this by going to your phone settings and searching/selecting “permissions”. You will be sent a link via text and email; please ensure you click the link prior to your appointment.
If you require treatment or assessment that is unable to be completed over the phone, you will be advised to come to Urgent Care for a physical assessment. If you attend the clinic on the same day, the phone/virtual consultation will be free of charge, and you will only need to pay the Urgent Care charges. If you have chest pain, abdominal pain, are very unwell or have an issue that may require a physical assessment, please do not book a phone consultation.
Parking
Disabled parking and access are available at the front of the building. Parking can be limited so ensure you allow for time to park if you are driving here.
Prescriptions
Prescriptions will be completed within two business days. Please order your prescription at least one week prior so that you do not run out of medication. If you notice any mistakes in your prescription, please let us know within 3 working days by contacting nurse@bakerfield.co.nz. It will be fixed free of charge. As our Urgent Care gets busy, we cannot accommodate prescription requests or solve prescription issues through this service. A full urgent care charge applies. If you run out of your medication completely, your pharmacy can give you an emergency 3 day supply while we process your prescription through our prescription service.
Help us keep Urgent Care just for Urgent Care!
We are proud to be to offer same day care for our patients via our Urgent Care, which is available for everyone 8am-8pm, 7 days a week for urgent health concerns. Urgent Care is not a booked service and the waiting times will fluctuate depending on how many people are using the service, and how many emergency, urgent or complex issues we have. Our clinicians will only spend the necessary amount of time needed to treat the urgent/emergency issue. For routine GP concerns, you may be asked to book a follow up appointment with your GP. Please book an appointment for all routine and prescription needs to help us keep our Urgent Care free for urgent care.
We understand that it can be frustrating when wait times get long, but we ask all patients and whanau to treat our staff with kindness. Usually the wait times are out of the control of our staff unless we turn patients away. We will see you as soon as we can. If you wish to use another urgent care, we have a list of nearby clinics at reception.
Clinic Closing
If we are over capacity close to our closing time, or have unforeseen doctor staffing issues, we may refer patients to another clinic nearby. Our staff have a list of alternative clinics nearby for your convenience.
